Quilters verhaal.( Quilters story)

Gelukkig, de operatie is weer achter de rug en hoef ik niet meer in de stress te zitten voor het vinden van een ader. elke 4 weken was dat geen feest meer!!
Het is nu een makkie,en geweldig dat het op deze manier kan.
Thank goodness, the surgery is behind me now. And no more worry's about the needle every 4 weeks. It's almost a bliss, to go to the hospital now (not....LOL)

Ondertussen is ook mijn mysterie borduurquiltje klaar. Natuurlijk moest het een beetje aangepast worden, zodat het een Joke mysterie is geworden. Ik wilde wat meer rust, en vond het een beetje te vol worden.
Weet nog niet hoe ik het ga verwerken, inlijsten of in een quiltje, ga het nog bedenken. Suggesties zijn van harte welkom!
Meanwhile, I finished the SAL mystery too. I had to change it a bit, to make it more a Joke Mystery though. I thought it was a bit to much to fill every little block. Now there is more balance I think.
I have to figure out what to make of this, a little quilt, pillow or just frame it. Suggestions are welcome!!

Er zit heel veel waarheid in,en hoop dat jullie er van genieten. Het is in het Engels, dus voor de Nederlandse lezers is het eventjes oefenen geblazen.
Something else is that I found a beautiful quilt story, made my Sandra E. Anderson. There's a lot of truth in it, and I enjoyed it so much, I wrote it down here, so you can enjoy it too.
It's in English, so for the English readers, a piece of cake, the Dutch has to work a little harder, translating it.

A Legacy of Stitches is wat we leave behind;

Bijkletsen (chit-chat)

 Even bij kletsen over alles wat ik gedaan heb.
Leanne's House,pardon dat is nu Johanna's huis geworden is klaar.Weer eentje af en dat is trouwens mijn laatste Ufo van de Quilt Bee.Nog twee eigen projecten te gaan.
De kleuren en uitstraling zijn anders dan ik gewend ben,maar toch warm en sfeervol.

Let's talk a bit about my projects, I was working on lately. Leanne's House is now finished, and I re-named her into Johanna's House. I'm very happy that I finished all the Quilt-Bee projects. I'm up to speed now, to finish two projects of my own.
I like the colors and fabrics in Johanna's House, although there different than my usealy fabric choices.

Het tweede blok van de BOM heb ik vrij snel kunnen maken. Ik dacht eerst dat mijn scrap lapjes niet groot genoeg zouden zijn. Maar met passen en meten, ben ik er toch uitgekomen. En ik was verrast door de kleurcombinatie. Als je de BOM ook wil doen, (het is maar 1 blok per maand) dan is hier het linkje  KLIK

The second BOM is already done! First I thought I couldn't make this out of my scraps. But after a lot of thinking ,I  saw the light, and found a way. I was surprised how it turned out. Nu heb ik nog wat anders om aan te denken. Donderdag gaan ze bij mij een Port-a-cath plaatsen. En dan hoop ik van het vervelende geprik verlost te zijn. Dit is ook niet leuk, maar ga er met volle moed tegenaan. Wens me maar sterkte, zullen we maar zeggen.

Now I have something else on my mind. Thursday they will place a Port-a- Cath. So I wiil be in Hospital for a day or two. I hope the treatment every six weeks will go smoother, with less pain. I'm not doing a happy dance right now, but I know it's better for me. SO I could use your good wishes  and thoughts these couple of days!

Vakantie in Spanje ( trip to spain)

De vakantie in spanje bij onze kleindochters zit erweer op. Wat was het gezellig ze weer te zien. Leuke uitstapjes gemaakt, onder andere met de catamaran van Altea naar Calpe. G*E*W*E*L*D*I*G. En Opa moest ook het net op.

Our vacation in Spain is already behind us. We visited our granddaughters, and had a GREAT time. We made great trips, one was a trip with a catamaran. And of course GRANDDAD had to be there right in the middle of the net.

Ondertussen hebben mijn handjes ook niet stilgestaan.

Ben helemaal bij met de Borduur mistery van de quiltgroep.

En het kerstgebeuren voor de quiltgroep heb ik ook alvast afgemaakt. Het thema van dit jaar is servetten.

Het zooitje wat je op de foto ziet, is het restant, maar ook daar heb ik wat van weten te brutselen. Foto komt er later op, want wie ik heb, zal vast wel eens op mijn blog gluren... LOL

Meanwhile I kept my hands busy. I made round 3 of the cross-stitch mistery. And after that I worked on the Christmas theme. Napkins. SO the mess that's left are fabric scraps from them. And I had to make something out of scraps too.

Can't show you the photo's yet, because there is a change the one the napkins are for, is lurking... LOL

Dan heb ik me nog over laten halen door een zekere voor een online BOM (blok van de maand)

En dit is het resultaat, van het eerste blok. SUPER leuk om te doen. En 1 blok per maand moet te doen zijn.

Then some-one who not be named got me into a BOM. And this is the first of the blocks. I loved making this. And 1 block a month is do-able.

Mijn UFO's moeten ook af, heb er nog 3 liggen.

Dus daar ben ik de komende tijd wel zoet mee. Maar daar later meer over

I have to keep working on my UFO's too, there are 3 still left to do.

So they will keep me busy for a while. I will show and tell later.

Weer een af. (another quilt finished)

Er lagen nog aardig wat UFO's in mijn atelier, en nu gelukkig weer eentje minder.
Ik heb mijn Charmquilt afgemaakt. Het is een explosie van kleuren geworden,naareen ontwerp van Jinny Beyer.Het quiltpatroon bedenken was niet makkelijk. Maar toen ik het eenmaal in mijn hoofd had, en elke dag een stukje deed, schoot ik flink op.

I had a lot of UFO's laying in my quiltroom. But there is one finished!
I finished my charmquilt. It's an explosian of colors,after an design of Jinny Beyer.. I found it difficult though, to come up with a good quiltpattern. But when I finally did, I got the rythm of it.

Stil zitten doen we niet, dus de volgende UFO heb ik nu alweer onder handen genomen.
Dat zal ik in een volgende blog verder laten zien.
I can't sit still, so I'm working on the next UFO allready. I will show you that, in my next blog.

Ondertussen is er op de quiltgroep van Heidi een nieuwe borduur mistery gestart.
Elke maand krijgen we een nieuw deel van het groter geheel. Het eerste deel was het hart van het borduurquiltje, en de randen. Deel 2 hebben we net gehad, en dat zijn de vier hoeken.

Ik borduur het op een aida stramien wat ik in de thee heb gedoopt. En ik gebruik geverfd borduurgaren. Het resultaat wordt wel erg leuk, al zeg ik het zelf... Zelfs met een garensoort en kleur. Doordat het geverfd is, loopt het mooi in elkaar over.

Het idee is om er een miniquiltje van te maken, heb de lapjes al gevonden die er super bij passen.

In the meanwhile, I'm working on a little cross-stitch mistery. Heidi came up with a pattern she designed. Each month will get an up date. The first part was the centre of the project, and the edges. The second part we just got two weeks ago. I stitch on a aida cloth, with I dyed in tea. I use dyed thread too. I love how it turns out. And I will make a little cross-stitch quilt out of it. I found fabrics that match perfectly.


Dit zijn mijn kleindochters, ze wonen in Spanje en in augustus gaan we daar weer een weekje naar toe.

We zien ze niet zo vaak, en in augustus is de oudste jarig. Ze vindt het natuurlijk super dat Opa en Oma dan komen. Ook al hebben we niet zo'n mooie zomer gehad, ik hoop dat het niet al te warm is. Maar vermaken zullen we ons wel.

These are my two granddaugthers. They live in Spain, so in august where going over there for a little familly visit. We don't see them that much, and the oldest has her birthday in August. She loves to she her grandpa and grandma agian. I hope it will be not to hot over there, even though we haven't had much of a summer. I don't like the heat that much.

Ik ben erg braaf de laatste weken, ben namelijk al mijn quilts van een label aan het voorzien. Ik kreeg namelijk te horen van enkele quilt experts... (zal de naam niet noemen) dat een quilt niet af is zonder label.

Dus nu heb ik al aardig wat quilts echt AF gemaakt! Goed he??!

I'm being a very, very good girl... I'm making labels for all my quilts. I was told from a quilting expert (who's name I won't mention..) that a quilt is not finished if there is no label on it. SO, I finished several quilts now... WITH a label. Ar'nt I a good girl??..


Afgelopen week was Joanne bij ons, we gingen naar een quilttentoonstelling. Zij zag een aantal van mijn quilts hangen en heeft ze op haar blog gezet.( met toestemming hoor.. LOL)

Last week, Joanne was over at our house. We had a girls day out to an quilt show. She saw some of my quilts and put them on her blog. (with my permission ofcourse.. LOL)

Veel te lang geleden... (it's been to long..)

Maar er is van alles gebeurd en ik heb niet stilgezeten...
Eerst op vakantie geweest naar Spanje, dat was heerlijk zo in het voorjaar. Veel gezien en de verjaardag van onze jongste kleindochter gevierd. We zien ze niet zoveel omdat onze zoon met zijn gezin in Spanje woont.
In Augustus willen we nog een keertje gaan, want dan is de oudste jarig.

I know it's been a long time ago, since my last blog. But a lot happened and things kept me busy...
We went on a trip to Spain, and it was a good little vacation break. We seen and done a lot, and celebrated the birthday of our youngest granddaughter. We don't see our grand kids that much, because our son lives in Spain. We plan to go back in August because our oldest granddaughter will have her birthday then.

Eind Maart een overval in de vorm van een surprise party voor mijn verjaardag( die ik eigenlijk niet wilde vieren) op touw gezet door Saskia,en iedereen wist ervan,behalve ikke. Was volkomen overdonderd.
Nooit geweten dat er zoveel mensen in mijn huis konden,en wat heb ik genoten!
En of het niet op kon nog een midweek naar texel,heerlijk het was een verjaardag om nooit te vergeten.

The 29th of march is my birthday. I got a big surprise party Saskia organised because I celebrated my 70th birthday. (didn't plan on a birthday party though)
I never knew that my home was big enough for all those people. I was a little bit blown away, but I enjoyed it a lot.
And on top of that, another little vacation to one of the Dutch Island Texel.

Maar mijn handen hebben ook niet stilgestaan.
Deze UFO een overjarig project is eindelijk af.
Wat een klus was dat! Het resultaat is niet slecht,en het is de favoriet van Gerard (dear husband voor 45 jaar)
kwam dat goed uit zo net voor vaderdag..LOL.

For the creative 'keeping busy' part, I finished this UFO. A project finally finished!! It was a small, big project, with all those little pieces. But It's my husbands favorite. So I finished in time for fathers day. (although, he's my father LOL)


Intussen is er door de quilt Leanne''s House,het borduren weer gaan kriebelen.Ben begonnen met het alfabet in kruissteek,en wil dat in een quilt gaan verwerken.Weet nog niet hoe dat er uit moet gaan zien,maar ben al in mijn scraplapjes aan het spitten geweest.Denk wel dat het weer een kleurig geheel gaat worden,het zijn allemaal reproductie stofjes,resultaat volgt.

Meanwhile, I got itches, those cross stitch itches... The year project from our quilt group (Leanne's house) made me go back to cross stitch projects. I started an alphabet project. And the plan is to make the letters the center of quilt blocks. How, I have to figure out. I'm digging trough my scraps. So I guess it will be colorful and vintage. Because I want to use my reproduction fabrics.





Ik zal de volgende keer, wat sneller een nieuw berichtje op mijn blog zetten. Misschien moet ik maar met mezelf en jullie afspreken 1x per maand of zo?..

Maybe I have to make an promise to myself and you to blog once a month?.. I promise I will show and tell more about the projects I'm working on sooner.

tijdje geleden (it's been awhile)

Lang geleden, maar niet stilgezeten.
Blijf gewoon bezig, ook al wil het niet altijd zoals ik wil.
Met mijn quiltgroepje "the 4-patches" hebben we een nieuw gezamenlijk projectje bedacht. Tijdens ons laatste samenkomst hebben we allemaal restjes meegenomen. Dit hebben we op een grote hoop gegooit en ieder van ons mocht 90 lapjes eruit zoeken.
Deze lapjes moesten verwerkt worden tot hexagon T's. Wie wil, kan er nog meer aan toevoegen.
Ik heb de hexagon iets verkleind, omdat ik geen mega quilts meer wil maken.
Na het maken van de T's begon het grote puzzelen, want hoe zou ik ze nu aan elkaar zetten?

Ik ben er zwarte hexagonnen tussen aan het zetten, zodat er wat meer diepte in komt.
En nu tijdens een heerlijk midweekje texel, kan ik er verder aan werken.
Begin april komen we weer bij elkaar, en ik ben benieuwd wat de anderen ervan gemaakt hebben.

It's been awhile, but I kept on being busy. Although it not always goes like I want to..
With my quiltgroup "the 4-patches" we came up with another project. At the last meeting we all brought little scraps with us. We made a big pile, and everyone could take 90 little squares with her. With these squares we made hexagon's, and then T's. You are free to make it as large or small, as you like it to be.
I made my hexagons a little bit smaller, so I don't get a large quilt.

The T's are combined with black hexagons, so there will be a bit more depth in the quilt.
Begin of april we have another get together, so we can show each other our results.

Centennial( Farmers Wife)

Dit zijn wat blokken van mijn Centennial Sampler en die ga ik verbouwen tot een Farmers Wife.  Dat klinkt gek,maar het zit al helemaal in mijn hoofd. Reken maar dat het leuk word.Ik denk dat het een Farmers Centennial Wife word. Ik zit hier een beetje onzin te kletsen , omdat Saskia mee zit te kijken via CrossLoop.  Wel een heel handig systeem hoor, dat iemand van afstand kan meehelpen. Mijn computer is namelijk een beetje eigenwijs, of ik niet zo handig. Dat kan ook LOL

This are a few blocks of my Centennial Sampler. I'm gonna make change it into Farmer's Wife. Sounds strange, but I can see it in my head.

I think it's going to be a great little quilt.. (well a great BIG quilt )

I'm talking a little bit funny too, because Saskia is on skype with me talking, and on CrossLoop with me, working my computer. I'm a late bloomer computer wise LOL

Alles weer normaal. (Back to normal)

De kerstboom ligt weer in de berging,de gordijnen hangen weer schoon voor het raam.
Dus we kunnen weer lekker prutsen.
Van Saskia kreeg ik met kerst een handgeborduurde speldenkussen met lintjes.
Aan deze lintjes komen iedere 6 weken na mijn APD infuus een bedeltje.
Dus ik hoop dat hij helemaal vol komt!!

The Christmas tree is put back on the shelf, the curtains are clean, the windows too.
So I'm ready to start being creative again.
This little pincushion i got as a Christmas present from Saskia. After every 6 weeks after my APD infusion I get a little bead to add on the cushion. I hope I can put a lot of beads on it!!

Het nieuwe project van de Quiltbee, is 'Farmers wife', maar dat verander ik in het afmaken van de Centennial UFO. Da's namelijk nog een hele klus.

The new Quilt project on the bee, will be 'Farmers Wife' but I will change that into finishing my Centennial sampler. That a whole project to finish.

Maar dat is nog niet alles, mijn nieuw project van de 4-patches, heb ik ook uitgewerkt.
Deze doe ik met halve hexagonnen, en de tekening geeft een beetje het idee wat het gaat worden.
Een mooi werkje voor onze vakantie in Spanje in Februari.

In deze vakantie gaan we kennis maken met onze kleindochters. Best spannend, we hebben ze nog nooit ontmoet.

And last but not least, I'm starting on the new projects of my other Quilt group 'the 4 patches'. It's a projects with half hexagons. The drawing shows how I picture it.
This project I can take with me, when we go to Spain in February. We are going to meet our granddaughters for the first time. So it's exciting, and we are looking forward to it.
